I understand it was in its young days and that the methods were not always rigorous, but Feynman’s attitude struck me as one that would alienate someone in that field rather than inspire them to learn more about rigorous scientific practices.

Much better and more thoughtful. He was a bona fide genius, not just in Physics, but also in life. If yes, how much common? One is that Feynman is very dismissive and condescending to fields of study he viewed as unscientific, like the emerging field of Psychology.

The difficulty may just be that we have never yet discovered a way to communicate with the female mind. And a question requires doubt. Audio delivery was not very pleasant and I found myself tuning out. Feynman shines ek he talks about physics, his Lectures books are impressive, masterful, but there’s is very little of that in this book.

Something was lost in translation without his actual inflections. I have read two others books by Feynman and loved them. Given his relentless and admirable pursuit of good scientific principles and rationality it amazed me that his assumption was that the female mind was inherently less capable of grasping mathematical principles, without considering that it might be related to differential cultural expectations and upbringing.

Perhaps saddest of all was that this attitude crept in when Feynman describes the different ways he has dsecubrir to read stories to his male and female descuhrir.
